Fire Prevention Week is held each year during the week of October 9, October 3 to 9 in 2027. Fire departments hold open houses and school visits, and employers run fire safety drills, so the order usually leans toward large quantities of low cost items, including items for children.
Ideas by budget
| Budget per person | Ideas |
|---|---|
| Under $5 | Stickers, plastic fire helmets, bookmarks, pencils |
| $5 to $15 | Drawstring bag, t-shirt, flashlight, magnet with emergency numbers |
| $15 and up | Hoodie for department members, first aid kit, emergency kit |
Items for children
Items given to children 12 and under must meet federal children's product safety rules, so ask for children's product certification on the quote.
Open houses
Plan on expected visitors plus a buffer, with a bag to carry everything. A magnet or card with your fire safety message keeps it on the fridge.
Employers
Pair a fire drill with a small item, such as a flashlight or emergency kit.
