A great onboarding kit that arrives on Wednesday of week one is a fine gift. The same kit sitting on the doorstep the night before Monday is an entirely different signal. The company was ready for you before you started.
Plan backwards from the offer letter
Kit fulfillment should be triggered by the accepted offer, not by the start-date reminder. That gives production a real window and lets shipping default to standard ground.
What belongs in the box
- Something to wear on day one
- Something practical for the workspace
- A brief, hand-signed welcome note
- A quick-start card, not a policy binder
